Florence has been passionate about drawing since she was a child. Therefore, after completing her studies at the French school in Milan, she decided to move to Paris in order to attend a course dedicated to the practice of the arts. Then an illustrator, she graduated from the School of Visual Communication in 1998, and began her career as a graphic designer, first in France, then in Australia where she lived for nine years.
Florence has now been living in Hong Kong for more than six years, and works as much on developing her own artwork, both graphic and pictorial, as on executing various commissions for companies or individuals. That’s how, in September 2018, her decoration project for the exterior of the Hong Kong tramway was inaugurated. In addition, she designs many frescoes that brighten the facades of restaurants and schools.
Armed with her acrylics and stencils, which she sometimes associates with collage, she draws as much from the unique atmosphere that emerges from each city as from the vitality of their inhabitants in order to fuel her “stories”.
The incredible scenes of life and the improbable landscapes she composes are full of multiple details that delightfully titillate the viewer’s gaze, and thus seem like a collection of children’s stories. Florence’s resolutely colourful drawings are dynamic, luminous and enchanting all at the same time, and possess this candour that allows us to dive back into childhood, to that glorious time when each discovery rhymed with wonder and fantasy.
