With the great visual and cultural influences from residing in Bangkok and New York City, to the suburban towns in America; the art of Chayapong Charuvastr is the amalgam of American Retro culture as well as the Western culture, and his re-articulation on the visual aspects of his hometown, Bangkok, at one point in time. Charuvastr’s art encapsulates the sharing theme of both Retro America and Retro Thailand. His art evokes a sense of stillness and equanimity through the medium of pastel palettes, and the mood of his art is defined by the puristic simplicity of his subjects through forthright compositions and shapes. His art challenges the audience to not fixate on what they are supposed to see, but to appreciate them through their own reflections and understandings.
