CHERIE KWOK AT KAI TAK SPORTS PARK

SPRING 2025 YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

Mentored by Hong Kong-based Spanish artist Emerico, Cherie is an illustrator and multidisciplinary artist whose visual language is inspired by her dual cultural identity between Hong Kong and the UK, integrating elements of movement and vibrant energy.

The Joy of Motion
Taking inspiration from the sounds and emotions experienced during sports, the piece features dynamic abstract shapes which represent the multi-sensory experience of playing sports as well as watching it.

Endorphins and adrenaline are interpreted as expressive lines which burst from the centre, creating a joyful and exciting energy. The roar of the planes at the previous Kai Tak airport is now replaced with the cheers of support from the stadium audiences. But the memories of Kai Tak Airport will always remain in our hearts.
