Herakut
HERAKUT is a (currently) Berlin based artist duo. Founded in 2004 when Jasmin Siddiqui (born 1981), aka HERA, and Falk Lehmann (born 1977), aka AKUT, merged their synonyms as well as their artistic styles. Even though their techniques and approach are rooted in the subculture of „graffiti“, their home is a genre called „urban contemporary“ or „street art“, as they are renown for painting large-scale murals all over the world, the biggest ones being located in Odinzowo, Russia, in Sao Paolo, Brasil, in Miami, USA, and in Berlin.
In between their mural projects, the duo has been busying themselves throughout the past 16 years creating intimate indoor installations, canvases, drawings and sculptures displayed in galleries, fairs and museums, as well as working in collaboration with humanitarian aid organizations on art programs for children and underprivileged youth.
Since 2018 both made room for continuing their development as solo artists as well by working on their individual creative output on canvases, murals, workshops and digital moving images all over the globe.
The work of HERAKUT has been featured in many books of the urban art genre, such as „MaClaim – Finest of Photorealism“ (2005), “Graffiti Woman” (2006), “Mural Art” (2008), “Beyond the Street” (2010), “Graffiti Alphabets” (2011), „Lonely Planet – Street Art“ (2017), „Mural Masters“ (2018), „Alter Ego“ (2019), and of their own books: “Herakut – The Perfect Merge” (2008) and “After The Laughter – The 2nd book of Herakut” (2012).
HERA and AKUT are currently working separately in their studios due to the corona crisis, but looking forward to new solo exhibitions in London and Denmark this and next year.
