JELMER KONJO AT PMQ COURTYARD
Jelmer Konjo, a Rotterdam-based graduate of the Willem de Kooning Academy, interrogates the rigid norms of adulthood through whimsical, process-driven art. Transforming playground equipment and unconventional materials into tactile sculptures, Konjo revives childhood’s fearless creativity, challenging the utilitarian mindset of modern life. His work—a fusion of playfulness and philosophical inquiry—celebrates mistakes, experimentation, and the subversion of functionality. By recontextualizing familiar objects (like swings or slides), he questions how societal expectations shape perception. Konjo’s installations, showcased in European galleries, act as tactile provocations, urging audiences to reclaim imagination as a radical act of resistance.
