A Windy Night
The site-specific video is based on the dynamics of the given architectural space of the
facade building. The animations take their proportions from the scale and measures of the
actual displays. The displays do not serve here as usual flat screens for image content but
they become objects windows into virtual space. The imagery breaks through the facade
wall inside the building and unveils its depth and structure. The project utilizes an illusionary
perspective that represents the infinite virtual universe. These continuously floating empty
chambers turn the building into a dataset in the digital environment as a second (or even
first to some) reality. The physical energy is present here in a moment through a sequence of
fabric covering the entire display moved by a virtual wind creating an illusion of connection
with natural force while observing the large display over the sea level. The construction
elements of the building are then exposed and follow the movements of the wind. Fragility
of all our structures.

Mrkus is an audiovisual artist who makes use of digital moving images and sound often concerning specific space. He graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. His later study of Religious Studies at the Charles University in Prague together with experience of four years teaching position at Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan lead him to unique mixture of cultural paradigms within his work. Since 2023 he is also active as a head curator of Signal Festival in Prague.
